At Beyondia Mita, we have been raising rhinoceros beetle larvae. Watching them squirm around in the soil, the children eagerly looked forward to their daily changes, exclaiming, “Look, it got a little bigger!” and “It moved over here!”
Now, they have finally grown into adult beetles! Lately, the children have been proactively taking care of them, deepening their curiosity while observing, “It’s eating the jelly!”
In addition, we have newly started raising swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. By connecting real-life observation with reading the picture book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the children’s sense of inquiry and interest in nature have deepened remarkably.

Beyondia Mitaではカブトムシの幼虫を育ててきました。
土の中でむくむくと動く姿を観察しながら、
「ちょっと大きくなった！」「こっちに動いたよ！」
と、子どもたちは毎日の変化を楽しみにしてきました。
そして、ついに成虫に成長しました。
最近では子供たちが積極的にお世話をしてくれ、「ゼリーを食べてる！」と興味を深めています。
さらに、アゲハ蝶の幼虫も新しく育て始めました。
絵本『はらぺこあおむし』を読みながら、
実際の観察と結びつけることで、子どもたちの探究心や自然への興味がぐんと深まっています。
